Sugar market in EU
After liberalization of its sugar market (last October), the EU became the best net exporter with a production costs more competitive than historical rivals like Russia and Pakistan. This situation has contributed to concerns about a global supply and has pressured world prices.
Alexander Luneau, a member of Tereos‘ board, said that the Eu sugar production will increase by 26 % (2017/18) with a 20.1 million tonn, a 17% more acreage and a plus 8% of yield due a good weather.
Obviously, the EU surplus has been growing exponentially and the prices have shed more than a third of their value in the last year so the exports of EU are increasing (1.8 million tonnes in the first quarter 2018):

THE SUGAR TRANSPORT
The major vector for this commodity transport by maritime way is bulk container.
